 +The literature on acoustical analysis of voice related to laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR) is diverse. In this study, we used a multi dimensional voice program (MDVP) by Laryngograph Ltd. (78 Manor Road, Wallington, Greater London, SM6 0AB, United Kingdom) to evaluate sustained tones and reading of a standard text before and two weeks after reflux treatment. This treatment consisted of 1: lifestyle corrections, 2: lifestyle correction and proton pump inhibitor (PPI), or 3: lifestyle correction, proton pump inhibitor and alginate. Inclusion criteria were adults with 2-4 weeks of subjective complaints of LPR. Apart from MDVP, high speed films of larynx were made and visual scores of oedema of the arytenoid region were obtained. Results: There was no difference between the three groups. For sustained tones, there was a reduction on shimmer with p-value of 0.04.  For reading a reduction of frequency variation of p-value of 0.019 was obtained. These results are probably due to irregularity of measures. A significant relation was found between the subjective complaints of LPR and oedema of the arytenoid regions.
